If the touchscreen is not working properly on your Windows 10 laptop, then read this article and it will help you with different tips to get rid of it.

Even though touchscreen computers are the best Windows 10 mixed devices, that doesn’t mean they aren’t going to give you any trouble. As always, dependability and compatibility problems arise when once-unique gear reaches a critical number. A lot of people have problems with their touchscreens not responding, but there are some things you can do to fix this problem on your own.

If you update your laptop to the newest version, you might find that the touchscreen no longer works. Windows 10 Touch Screen Drivers that don’t work with each other are a usual cause of this problem. Of course, there is more than one reason. This post will talk about some methods that have been shown to work to fix the tablet’s problem. Just try each one to get the touchscreen back to how it was before.

How To Fix Touchscreen Not Working Problem On Windows 10 Laptop?

This post will show you some things that have worked to fix the problem where the touchscreen on a laptop won’t work. Just try each one to get the touchscreen back to how it was before.

Fix1: Restart Your Laptop And Clean The Screen

It might seem condescending to say this, but with better sleep and wake features and longer battery lives, you may only shut down your device for a short time. Sometimes, all you need to do to get your tablet to work again is restart your computer. Try this out first to find out if it fixes the problem before you spend time and energy getting it fixed.

If the problem still exists after restarting, try cleaning the touchscreen on your laptop. After a while, grease and dirt build up on the screen, which hurts the sensors and makes them less sensitive. A microfiber cloth can help you clean a screen that is dirty or smudged.

You can use a mild cleaner that is safe for devices to get rid of marks that won’t go away. Rub alcohol or soap should not be used on the screen because they can make the damage worse. Instead, mix vinegar and pure water in a spray bottle until they are equal parts. Spray the mixture on a cloth to clean it up.

Fix2: Re-enable The Touchscreen Drivers

Having trouble with drivers generally leads to problems like the touchscreen not working. Hence, it is advisable to keep all of your Windows drivers up-to-date at all times. However, in this case, we will just disable and then re-enable the drivers to see if that helps in fixing the issue. Below are some steps that will guide you through the process.

Step1: Search for the Control Panel in the Start menu and select the most relevant search result.

Step2: Change the Control Panel’s view to Large icons from the View by dropdown menu. Then, click on the Device Manager option to open its separate window.

Step3: On the Device Manager window, expand the Human Interface Devices option and right-click on the “HID-complaint touch screen” option.

Step4: Select the Disable device option from the context menu.

Step5: Now, click on the Yes button present in the dialog box to proceed further.

Step6: Then again right-click on the HID-complaint touch screen and now choose the Enable device option.

After completing the process, restart your touchscreen laptop and check to see if the issue is gone or not. If not, then try to run the Windows troubleshooter as it will find and fix the problem automatically.

Fix3: Use Windows Troubleshooter

Every Windows device comes with several in-built tools and features that help you to keep your computer running smoothly. Windows Troubleshooter is one of those utilities. Follow the instructions mentioned below and they will help you fix the problem with the help of this in-built tool.

Step1: Search for the Setting in the Start menu and hit the Enter button on your keyboard.

Step2: Go to the Update & Security settings. Over there, click on the Troubleshoot section present on the left panel.

Step3: Then, on the right side click on the Additional troubleshooters option.

Step4: Expand the Hardware and Devices section by clicking on it. Then, click on the Run the troubleshooter button to start the process.

Step5: Wait for some time till your computer searches for the reason behind the issue. Follow the instructions on the screen to fix the problem.

Final Words

Microsoft wants all Windows 10 devices, from computers to tablets, to have touch screens. We hope that one of these methods helps you. Is the screen still giving you trouble? You should probably take it to a nearby repair shop or the manufacturer and hope it’s still under warranty.
